This setup program will install the Emacs developers CVS version 23.1.50.1 of Emacs. Please notice that this is not an official GNU release of Emacs! *Note*: There has been some problems recently due to that the Emacs lisp source tree was reorganized. This happens now and then in the development tree. Unfortunately this can lead to that you have old versions of some Emacs lisp libraries left that interferes with the new ones Emacs should use. The installer can not currently delete this libraries during reinstallation of Emacs. If you get strange problems this might be the cause. The cure for this is to first uninstall Emacs and then reinstall. You can during the installation optionally install EmacsW32 enhancements to Emacs. Click the Help button and follow the web link if you want more information. The sources for Emacs was checked out from GNU Emacs source code repository at 090630 14:48:02 UTC+2 with cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sv.gnu.org:/cvsroot/emacs co emacs They have then been compiled using the instructions found in EmacsW32. (Sources for Emacs is not included in this installation program but are available among the downloads from the home page at http://OurComments.org/Emacs/EmacsW32.html.) Modifications of the Original Emacs Sources =========================================== The sources have been modified, please see the home page above. The main modifications are: - ask user to save changes at logoff and reboot - support left and right windows keys as meta - allow normal menu handling - maximized windows should be maximized - a workaround for hang if ftp program on MS Windows - Emacsclient starts Emacs automatically - Initialization of global minor modes is better - Colored minibuffer prompts Using windows keys as meta is not on by default. To turn on that and some other customization you can from the menus select Options - Customize EmacsW32. There are also some other minor changes. All changes made to the sources can be found in the file EmacsW32/patch-CvsP090630.diff in this installation. Additions ========= There are several additions, like the inclusion of some ported GNU programs. See the documentation for more. Image Support ============= This build includes image support for Emacs. PLEASE NOTICE THAT YOU MUST YOURSELF TAKE CARE OF UPDATING THE IMAGE LIBRARIES! The image libraries have been fetched from gnuwin32.sourceforge.net.
